The San Francisco 49ers are going back to the Super Bowl to face the Kansas City Chiefs.

This is not a sentence you would have expected to read after the first half of Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, as the Detroit Lions, fueled by a surging ground attack, built a 24-7 halftime lead. No matter, the 49ers mounted a furious comeback to win 34-31 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
